Concerned how my fellow citizens have gotten onto the trash Trudeau Band Wagon. Some of what the Liberals have done have been done in error and with unforeseen results, but the housing starts being limited all these years is not entirely their fault.

Building housing starts has been the responsibility of provincial governments, who are supposed to know and understand their local populations needs and wants. Since these local governments were not interested in being the initiators and enforcers needed to direct and force developers to build new housing, they shoved that responsibility to Ottawa. Should a local government force developers towards multiple builds, the image presented to the media and public, propagandized by private money from the developers to make the local politicians look authoritarian, would not have been acceptable to politicians who only want to present good impressions on the voting public.

Why is housing in the urban centers of Canada so high? Developers with their real estate partners created an artificial shortage of housing, driving up prices continually. The real culprits become the added voice of opposition to the federal government along with the leaders of the opposition and other competing political parties. Sure, the Liberal could have done something about the housing limitations, but assuredly the job to do so lay for a very long time, in the hands of premiers across the land. The present-day politicking by all politicians makes this fact easy to ignore.

You want more housing in Southern Ontario, or Halifax, you don’t go to Ottawa, but you do go to the leaders of these provinces. The province is supposed to know what is good and needed in their jurisdiction, not Ottawa. If you need a good side of beef for a BBQ you go to a butcher shop, not a brand spanking new EV Plant.

An audit for all forms of government in Canada needs to be made, whereby all the real responsibilities of each will be known to both legislatures and the public. Right now, misinformation and manipulation are happening nationwide, and the media with the public cannot tell what the truth really is these days. Also look to the private sector as culprits too. If you can build a house for $350,000 and sell it for over a million, would you? They have for many years. A two-bedroom townhouse in Toronto can be built for $250,000 and should be sold for 25% above that. Why is it not? Perhaps it is because many consumers see bidding for a home to be just like gambling at a casino. Foolish indeed!
