It’s another year of fear
Another year that heightens anxiety
Another year of asking what’s next
Another year of guessing what’s in store for Earth
A year of feeling trapped
It’s another year of isolation
Divisions of opinions are getting wider
Another year where voices get judged and silenced
Another year of relationships get shattered
It’s another year of departure
A decline of physical and mental health
Body count keeps rising from violence
But the headlines keep showing the same thing
Barely shedding light on anything else.
It’s another year of corruption
Did everyone forget what they are doing to the people from these lands?
Destruction of old growth forests
Another year of forcing pipelines on unheeded lands
It’s another year of sneak peaks
They quickly air out their dirt
But cover it back up quicker
Lockdowns from the inside and out
And those cages getting more rowdy
With officers mocking inhumane conditions
Towards those in segregation
As if they were not humans
Overcrowding behind iron walls
Kicking out folks from shelters and putting surgeries on hold
Why, for the sake of social distancing
Profiting off from the marginalized
Then call a war on uprising crime
Wonder when the public can see what is really happening
It’s another year of guesses
It’s another year to push more fear
It’s another year of hatred brewing
It’s another year for more years
When will it be enough?
Before we can speak up
How many more years of fear…
