There is more to being a citizen than just having legal papers as proof. It doesn’t matter whether you are born with specific citizenship or you earn it during immigration. Being a good citizen is about a person’s conduct and behavior, it is about the way of interaction with society and in the community.
People do not need to have a degree to be a good citizen. A good citizen should consider the community as their family.
Kids should be responsible for their litter, help community clean-ups like parks and wild places. This will help maintain the local ecosystem.
We should be more sociable, knowing our neighbors, contributing to a more secure neighborhood, thus creating a social support system. Get involved in local movements such as gardening, celebrations and volunteer groups. Organize a garage sale or block party, lead to interaction, socialization and cooperation. Community schools are a great place to be involved. One can make a difference by contributing to kids’ education.
Communities should participate in charities that serve the poor or underprivileged not only with food but also with shelter and clothes. Care and respect should be given to all senior citizens in our community.
One of the greatest gifts you can give is your time. We rise by lifting others. Without community service we wouldn’t have a strong quality of life.
“Small acts when multiplied by millions of people can transform the world.”
