We focus on our past way more than we realize. We carry those hurtful memories with us and long for those memories to stop following us.
We can’t change the past, but if we could, I’m sure we would all go back and change something.
If I could go back and tell my younger self something, it would be a message about ‘living in the moment.’
As a kid, I dreamt of becoming a little older. I dreamt about being an adult without someone bossing me around. I’m thirteen now, and I’d like to tell my younger self to focus on making memories as a little kid and not wishing to be older.
Things are so good as a toddler or an elementary schooler. I’m going into high school now and I wish I hadn’t complained about the minimal homework I was assigned.
My days in elementary school were amazing, not too much/barely any homework, awesome friends and even great teachers that took the time to ask what the class wanted to do.
Life was great back then, but I always found something to complain about. I wish I had those awesome friends today.
I wish I had those teachers that asked about my well-being instead of assigning reading passages and math problems all the time.
As I grow older and become more responsible, I regret complaining more and more.
I’m sure when I have my own job and become an adult, I’ll read these articles and think to myself about how much of a spoiled kid I was. I had everything and still dreamt of having more.
That will be my advice to my younger self. Soak in the moment and have fun instead of wanting more.
