The Poetic Word

Hope in a dark place

“Hope will always want the best for you.”

By Gloria O’koye

Hope, is like a dwindling star in the

Darkness parts of the universe.

It gives signs of life like ripe fruits

Filled with seeds to be dispersed.

Grows amongst the driest of places.

Hope,

Is like the essentials of maintaining a

Bountiful garden.

No space for procrastination but to push

Forward!

Hope,

Is like watching the Northern star

In the middle of the ocean at night.

Pitch noir can attract fear.

That shining light is the guardian

Angel if you just have trust and hope.

Allowing that angel take you home,

Even when angry clouds is right in front

Of your sight,

Your spirit is shook.

Hope,

It is like roaring rain clouds that represent the ending of famine and drought.

It’s showers are like answered prayers,

Quenching the coarse throat in

Spiritual deserts,

After screaming where is

The Higher Entity?

To hear their cries from far out

Hope,

Is like that neighbourhood aunty

That unconditionally play the hood hero

For kids that may have not felt safe at

School, or home.

Hope is the epiphany of a village raising

A child,

Instead of being destructive

Just trying to do everything alone.

Hope,

Is like a bunch of friends

Who wants to see the best for you.

It won’t sugarcoat, nor let you drown,

Hope will always want the best for you.
