Greetings star family: I pray all is well with each of you. I hope you are enjoying the summer weather and taking some time to stop and smell the flowers. We can get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget to take a minute to actually enjoy the life we are working so hard to create. Balance is the key to navigating through life.

Summer starts with the beginning of the Cancer season. Cancer represents the home. Cancer’s opposite sign or sister sign is Capricorn, which represents our public work life.  During Cancer season it is important to pay attention to our work life balance. The temperature is warmer, and we tend to add more activity to our routines. We try to squeeze as much as we can into the day to have a little more fun before the summer breezes by. After work link ups on the patio, soccer nights with the children, social activities on the weekends, plus our regular work duties, it can all add up really quick.

In our work and public life, we are often assigned roles based on our skillset, experience and perspective. From as early as childhood we are assigned to groups, classes, jobs and projects. As we continue throughout life, we are assigned jobs, tasks and roles both in the home and outside. As we continue to show up for these roles, we internalize the impact these roles play in our lives. It is usually at this point that we begin to make these roles a part of our identity.  However, these are roles that have been assigned to us, not aligned to us.

When moving in alignment, we make the conscious choice to engage. Based on who we are and what we value, we choose the jobs, the relationships and experiences we want to see manifest in our lives. Astrology and human design help do just that. Astrology is deeper than being a Scorpio, that’s just where the sun was located during your time of birth. You are so much more than your Sun Sign; you are all the signs!  Each of us has access to all the archetype energies each sign of the zodiac has to offer. Understanding how your astrological placements impact your life helps you create a more intentional approach to life. You get to choose how you want to show up for the roles that support your growth and evolution.

On July 17th, we will have a New Moon in Cancer. This will speak to your moon placement. The moon in astrology represents our emotional environment. It speaks to our emotional safety, security and how we get our emotional needs met. The moon is the planetary body that has the most influence on the Cancer sign. With the moon being home in Cancer during this New Moon, it gives us a potent opportunity to review the roles that have been assigned to us. Are your roles meeting your emotional needs? Do you feel emotionally connected and safe in the roles you are showing up for?

Use this New Moon to set some new intentions on how you would like to be aligned.  What experiences would make you feel safer? What are some of your emotional needs that are still unmet?  How can we make a conscious choice to show up for what makes us feel safe enough to express our true authentic self?

Eventually we may outgrow the roles that have been assigned to us. Too often we keep showing up for jobs, relationships and experiences that no longer serve us, but because we have so closely identified with them, we can find it extremely hard to let them go. Tap into the power of this New Moon and make a commitment to the new you. The roles we align to will grow and evolve with us over time. As we continue to exercise the power of making conscious choices, it will become much easier to release what keeps us restricted.  If it is assigned but doesn’t align, we must decline. It’s a new moon, make room for a new you!
