A valuable object that has belonged to a family for generations, the definition of an heirloom. Members of the family might pass on something to you or to another family member as a recurring monument.
An heirloom is meant to be passed on from person to person until there isn’t anyone you pass it on to.
Sometimes, one’s creation might affect the entire world. Even though they are gone, their invention still has a lot of value. For example, Sir Fredrick Banting, the discoverer of insulin. Insulin helps those with diabetes. Before insulin was discovered, kids and adults would be advised not to eat, many passed away fighting diabetes without medicine. This isn’t a family heirloom, instead it’s a reason to remember someone for their impact, which is another description of an heirloom, in this case, we remember Sir Fredrick Banting for his contribution.
There are many things we should be more grateful for; lightbulbs, electricity, cars, and other vehicles, and even those who made our clothes. All these things play a part in our life.
Can you imagine going a day without electricity? Everyone would be a mess. Remember when we had that wifi issue with Rogers and all of Canada shut down? I’m sure everyone was not happy. We were glad when everything was back to normal the next day.
This event just shows that we take everything for granted. What would happen if the electricity went out while you were making your morning coffee? Your day would start with anger.
Family heirloom or not, take a second to appreciate what you have instead of not paying attention to it at all until you need it. Take a second to appreciate and honor those who worked hard just for our convenience.
The state or fact of being of great significance or value; the definition of importance.
