As you may know, us humans make detrimental decisions in life, leaving us feeling downright remorseful. We repeat the words “I wish I thought that through,” or, “I wish I hadn’t done what I did.” To the point where it keeps us up at night, drilling a hole of sorrow the second we let our guard down.
There are some of us who have a happy space to take our minds off of what we’ve done. Whether that be, keeping yourself busy with fun hobbies, or diving into the wretched depth of the internet. Now, instead of kicking yourself over and over again, I’ll give you tips on how to overcome poor decision-making.
According to https://www.success.com/, to fully overcome bad decision making you have to: accept your emotions, focus on the present, don’t let them consume you, forgive yourself, practice gratitude, and last but not least plan for the future.
The best thing you can do when making a bad decision is forgiving yourself, because holding onto the past can damage the bright future that’s ahead of you. If you’re willing to let one decision drag you down then I can guarantee you that the only direction that your roller coaster is heading is downwards.
All in all, what I’m trying to say is that we all make mistakes during our life, for example I almost missed a deadline for homework once because I told myself “I’ll do it in 10-20 more minutes.” Little did I know that this “10-20 more minutes” turned into hours. To this day, I still make those mistakes, but I’m working on my procrastinating. Like Alyson Noel said, “Our past may shape us, but it doesn’t define who we become.”
