Sugar, fat, sodium and preservative chemicals in our fast foods are slowly aging and killing our children

Did you know that 44% of Americans and 31% of Canadian families rely upon fast food to be their main meal of the day? American Black and Hispanic families rely upon fast food and dollar store canned foods as a measure of their nutrients. Fresh food has become exceedingly expensive and out of reach for many of our fellow citizens who have been and continue to rely upon less nourishing food sources.

Greed-inflation hit the fast food networks the moment grocery stores realized the potential profits they could be making, driving up their food prices way beyond the increased costs of their suppliers. Yes: transport, bags, sugar, fats and so many other elements increased their costs, but never to the prices we have seen at our local grocery stores. Fast food followed suit, realizing while they have not paid their staff more, and their costs have not gone up more than 7.5% over the past two years, that they can stick it to the public big time. So, eating what our nutritionists call bad carbs and heavy fats became more popular with: societies disadvantaged, young and already obese populations. Super high sodium content is feared to threaten the next generations health and welfare.

Supersizing fast food has returned, ensuring our neighbors of more sugar content, and bad teeth along with probable heart conditions. Schools try to control the flow of sugar and fat products into their children’s environments, all the while taking money from the same corporations that sponsor the school’s sports clubs.

Selfish business ethics, managerial hypocrisy and plain ignorance of parents and teachers alike have placed their children at risk.

How horrible is it when a family can find a barrel of KFC with all the trimmings cheaper than burgers and fresh greens at the grocery store? Remember you are what you eat. So, we and our children are becoming something we do not wish to become and possible illnesses cannot be far away. Could what our children eat and not eat cause an attention deficiency amongst them? Stats are in and yes, the: sugar, fat, sodium and preservative chemicals in our fast foods are slowly aging and killing our children. Oh yah, this bad stuff is also crazy expensive. Go figure.
