Greetings Family! Welcome back to the Cosmic Corner. This week we will be digging into the taboo, the extraordinary and the chaotic. This pretty much sums up the year we have been having so far.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I had a very interesting conversation on polyamorous relationships. I decided to conduct a survey on social media to see how others felt about open relationships. The responses were honest and well-articulated. The exercise taught me a lot more than the topic at hand. But we’ll get to that shortly when we discuss the full moon.

I asked a series of questions around open relationships. Are women comfortable with the concept of sister wives? Are men comfortable with being one of multiple husbands, which I coined ‘brother husband’? The responses were as hilarious as they were serious.

Overall, women in the majority were against the concept of sister wives. The main reason was they don’t like the idea of sharing. Most men said they would prefer a monogamous relationship as well.

Women equally supportive and were against the idea of brother husbands. Those in support expressed having different ‘husbands’ for different purposes would be ideal.

Men were also equally supportive, which was very surprising to me. Those in support felt if defined boundaries were put in place, they would be open to the idea. Quite a few men expressed it would be easier to protect and provide for their wife and children.

The results showed that many people are open to different approaches to dating and relationships. As we step into a new decade, people are finding new ways to connect with each other.

Although quite thought-provoking, you must be wondering what do open relationships have to do with full moons or retrogrades?

Let’s look to the sky for some answers…

On February 9th we had a full moon in Leo. This is the first of four supermoons, taking us from now until May. A supermoon occurs when the moon is at its closest distance to the earth. The moon appears larger in size and its energy is felt more intensely.

The theme of the recent full moon in Leo was authenticity and freedom. Leo is the regal sign of self-expression, creativity and integrity.

We are being asked who are we at our core. Take all the titles, labels and expectations away, who are you? This is how we define our authenticity. It is only when we can be authentic with ourselves, we can effectively express ourselves with others.

If we are to attract the right partner or multiple consenting partners, we need to know what we are looking for and what we are committed to offering. Happiness and freedom comes from within and is defined on your terms.

Luckily, we have our first Mercury retrograde of the year on February 17th!

Many people cringe at the sound of retrograde. However, retrogrades are powerful opportunities to slow down and heal. This retrograde will have a heavy emphasis on deep emotions as it will take place in the sign of Pisces. Use this time to spend time with you, the real you. Self-care is more than manicures  and facials. It’s also making sure you show up for yourself by being true to you first.

Face your fears, examine what is truly taboo, or if it is it someone elses experience or expectations? Use the energy of the supermoons to illuminate your true inner being and lastly, use this first retrograde to become comfortable with that inner being, taboos and all.

Retrogrades, like life, do not always have to be chaotic. The answer to our peace and happiness lays deep within. Step into the unknown of yourself. Find your freedom!
