Time For A Change

When do you know when something in your life is over or complete? When do you know that it is time to move on and try new things?

This article may be a little like The Alchemist (my children and I just finished reading it). If you haven’t read it, this is a story all about living your vision, your dream, your Personal Legend. It is a story about listening, truly, to your heart and following through no matter what. It is a story about being honest with yourself. But, if following one’s Personal Legend is, in fact, the thing that we all must do, then what happens when you have taken a wrong path and things must come to an end?

It’s a little tricky, this question. It feels awkward, yet sensible (you know what I’m talking about). I’m talking about the end of a relationship, job thought pattern or way of life. That thing that you have welcomed into your life and have grown accustomed to having. How do you let this thing go? How do you know when it is time to let it go?

Well, here’s what I know; we all have our own ways of being. We all have our own hearts to listen to. We all have those things that make us tick. When we have to say “good-bye” to something or someone that is in our lives, it is a decision that we have to come to on our own. Each woman must make her own decision based on her own heart. No one can tell anyone else what they should do…that’s just the thing. But, here is what I have seen so far. When it is time to let something go, life becomes way too uncomfortable to stay the same.

When change is occurring in my world, I feel overwhelmed and begin to have strong feelings of discomfort. Like, the kind of discomfort you feel after Thanksgiving dinner and you have eaten so much that you feel as if you could explode. You think back to that last piece of turkey and pie, and you say to yourself, “I will never do this to myself, again!” But, you do it again next year and the year after. You do it until you realize that you can’t stand the way that you feel. You are too uncomfortable to go on…That’s when you know. That’s when you know it is time to release something, someone, some thought. That’s when you know it is time to say “good-bye.”

What you do after that is up to you. I just wanted to send out the word. Life always changes. It always does. You can be a part of the change, or you can just let it flow. The problem with letting it flow, though, is that you’re not really trying to live out your Personal Legend.

But, live the way you desire, and when things become too uncomfortable, make a change. I think that you’ll be glad that you did.
