“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”   James Baldwin

James Baldwin is sharing excellence in that quote because he’s talking about how not every problem that is faced can be changed, but if you don’t make an effort or take risks, then how are you supposed to know it couldn’t be changed? Yes, I get it that fear overtakes us sometimes, but you can’t let it drive your life like a rollercoaster. We have to push fear out of the way, so that we are the ones who succeed.

A topic that connects to this quote is the school shooting in Uvalde Texas. If you weren’t informed on this issue, then let me give you a recap. There was a school shooter in Robb Elementary. One student said that his wounded teacher texted 911. Despite the police being called, the head chief directed the officers not to go into the school for one hour making sure he wouldn’t escape.

This story is tragic, due to the fact that the police didn’t go inside the classroom for one hour, a classroom that had defenceless children, and an active shooter. This has aggravated numerous people. We can’t just sit around and wait for disastrous events like this to happen again. We have to take action, or this will become more normal than it already is. When is enough, enough?

In the interview Steve Kerr did you can see the disappointment and anger in his eyes, and he’s trying to give the people in power a hint about what really matters. He said that the Senators care more about power than children’s lives, and insisted that their actions were pathetic. Instead of waiting for the people in power, we have to face this issue that’s currently happening to children all over the world.

I can’t stand how the world around us is dying because of ignorant people that choose violence as the answer. It is difficult to see the humanity in those types of people, it really is. We have to acknowledge that having the power to fix problems that the people “above” you couldn’t, now that is real power.
