Where there is no imagination, there is no horror

Spooky season is here with Halloween fast approaching. Last year, we all didn’t get to go trick-or-treating because of the pandemic. It ruined the spooky season and we all hated restrictions. One year later, have they changed anything? Is Halloween still canceled? Can we go trick-or-treating this year?

Well… Ontario’s top doctor has released new guidelines for Halloween. For Halloween, Dr. Moore recommends kids go trick-or-treating outside as much as possible. He guides us to be more creative in including a face mask in our costumes. Stay home if you’re experiencing any symptoms of Covid.

Some extra tips Dr. Moore gave us:

Keep interactions with trick-or-treaters short and simple. Wear a face mask when you feel physical distance cannot be maintained. Give out only purchased or packaged treats to your visitors. Do not ask trick-or-treaters to sing or shout for their candy. Make sure you clean your hands often throughout the evening.

Please note that a costume mask is not the same as a medical mask. A flimsy costume mask will not protect you as much as an authentic medical mask. Dr. Moore also recommends using hand sanitizer often and especially before and after you touch your face covering and/or face.

Some more tips in case you’re handing out candy:

Do not participate in Halloween traditions if you have any symptoms even if they are mild.

Consider wearing a mask yourself when you receive trick-or-treaters at your doorstep.

Dr. Moore encourages us to have fun while staying safe for Halloween this year. I’m so happy to hear that I can go trick-or-treating again even if I have to wear a mask.

If we follow rules, there aren’t going to be any complications.
