“A poet is a liar who always speaks the truth”

BY SABRINA S – 12 YEARS OLD

How many friends do you have? How many of them actually talk to you?

“It’s not that diamonds are a girl’s best friends, but it’s your best friends who are your diamonds.”

I wrote a poem about this:

Friendship is a priceless gift that can’t be bought or sold, but its value is far greater than a mountain made of gold.

For gold is cold and lifeless, it cannot see nor hear, and in times of fear it is not powerless to cheer.

It has no ear to listen, no heart to understand.

It cannot bring you comfort or reach out a helping hand.

So, when asking God for a gift, be thankful that he sends, not diamonds, pearls or riches, But the love of a real, true friend.

And when you’re sorrowful they will comfort you and to them you’ll always come first.

After a while you will no longer talk but for now, I want to say when that happens I will miss you everyday.

“I used to think that friends were the people that you could laugh and talk to.

Now I know that friends aren’t that, they’re the people that touch your heart.

They’re the people you can share your secrets with, laugh with, and just have fun with.

They don’t judge you or make you change. They accept you exactly the way you are.

To me my friends are the world and I wouldn’t trade you for the world.
