Quick question, have you been checking the news recently? Viewing each horrific story at a time, which leaves you in a place of reflection about life. They tell you “It happens every day,” as if we should normalize the deaths and lives that fall apart because of those events. When we should be making our voices heard, donating to well-known charities that specialize in gun violence and crime, and taking small steps towards a safer place to live in not only for us, but for generations to come.

Some of you may know that Toronto is known for gun violence, and it really saddens me that a human being like you and me has the audacity to steal another human’s life. Do they ever sit there and say what has their life come to? Do they feel remorse for the lives they took, or is it just “another day for them?” I hope justice is served to the families that had to go through losing a family member, because it really does change you. Losing a family member is the equivalent to having a pit dug into your heart that can only be restored by your healing process. No one can recover from losing a loved one, but after time passes by, acceptance occurs in our minds.

Gun violence along with any type of violence should not be tolerated as it is hurting our people and our world as a whole. As Steve Jobs said, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”
