Housing in any urban downtown centre worthy of calling itself an “international city” will be exceedingly expensive, and out of reach to most of us. Working class, middle class perhaps? You may be able to find a small hovel somewhere within the “Big City,” but you and your entire family will need to get jobs and pay for it until you’re all old and grey haired.
When you apply the term “affordable,” it depends what you’re talking about and what location you’re in. There is no affordable housing within the seven largest cities in Canada, or the 125 largest urban centres in America. If you are independently wealthy then yes, housing costs are affordable, but if you work for a living – absolutely not!
I cannot comprehend why governments will not get involved in housing starts and development of housing? Why do politicians and bureaucrats rely upon those who have put the public in this situation of horrible housing costs and housing starts shortages? Who benefits most from scarcity of available housing and the incredible high costs of housing across this land? Of course, those driving pricey Volvo’s, Corvettes and Mercedes, those who control the build and sale of these houses.
We need to break this alliance, and reverse this trend of reliance upon the housing axis of evil, those who build and sell housing. The price can never be too high, while the cost of these homes being built can never be low enough, allowing the axis to absorb excessive profits off the backs of the working and middle classes. The class system still exists folks, and you’re not at the top. Average North Americans need to revolt against this alliance and its hold upon our banking and governmental systems.
Looking for a: home, house, apartment, or igloo? Look no further than anywhere but the big urban centres. Yes rural areas, small to medium towns and cities where working class folk are appreciated and accommodated.
Our population is increasing, and our new fellow citizens will move towards the urban centres, so go forth young and old, search out your country’s communities with hope in your minds, and greater buying power in your pocketbooks too.
