How to enjoy gaming without going broke

Gaming has become one of the most expensive habits around. Twenty years ago, you just had to buy a console, a couple of games, and maybe an extra controller. That was it. Now, though, the amount of money you can spend on your gaming habit is endless. From specialist gaming equipment to in-game purchases, you need to watch your expenditure before it gets out of control. Here’s how to enjoy gaming without going broke:

Look for deals

One of the best ways to save money as a gamer is to look for deals. For example, if you’re in the market for a new PS4 game, check out their monthly game offers – sometimes they have brand-new games at half price. The gamer that spends too much money is the one that has no patience. Wait for your favorite games to drop in price, and you will save a lot of money. You can also get browser extensions that compare the prices of games, consoles, and more. This allows you to easily shop for the best deal.

Play games on your browser

You don’t need a high-end gaming laptop or the latest console to enjoy gaming. If you have internet access and a device, you can play thousands of games for free. From free role-playing games to casino games at spincasino.com, you can spend hours online without much investment.

Buy game bundles

If you’ve got time to shop around, it could be worth looking for game bundles instead of paying for each game separately. You can find game bundles on Amazon, eBay, and specialist sites like Humble Bundle. However, don’t get sucked into buying a game bundle before you check out the prices of each game separately. Some sellers will try and trick consumers by adding a bunch of games together and charging more for them.

Subscribe to a monthly service

If you’re the kind of gamer that likes to play new games every month, you should sign up for a monthly gaming service like Xbox Game Pass, Playstation Plus, or Nintendo Switch Online. Not only do these services allow you to play online with other gamers, but they also offer free access to tons of new games.

Stream games

For serious gamers, nothing can beat a high-end gaming PC. However, if you don’t want to shell out thousands to play the latest games, you might be able to stream them instead. You’ll need a strong internet connection, and you will have to sign up for a monthly service, but it still works out much cheaper.

Buy physical games

Buying physical games has gone out of fashion in the last couple of years. With more games being available exclusively online, it’s no surprise that gaming stores are closing. However, as a gamer, there’s still a lot of value in buying physical games. They’re often much cheaper, and you can pick up a preowned copy for even less. Plus, they don’t take up precious space on your console, so you can opt for a lower-spec model.
