Last Lap Lime urgently needs Volunteers

At the Last Lap Lime’s most recent and very well-attended Volunteer Appreciation Day event held at the Tropical Nights Restaurant in Scarborough on May 28th,  the call for volunteers remained a key driver for the success of what has become a marquee event for our Guyanese community in the GTA and elsewhere.

While honouring its current hard-working volunteers, the Last Lap Lime (LLL) organizers stressed the need for a greater number of persons to come on board to provide help with all aspects of the arrangements required to ensure greater success of the annual LLL. The call was made for an increase of the existing cadre of about 100 volunteers to a more realistic number of 250+ to donate their time and efforts on a preparatory day before the event, the actual day of the event, and the cleaning-up operations on the day after.

This year’s event will be held at its usual venue- the Woodbridge Fair Grounds, Woodbridge, Ontario on Monday, August 7 from 1.00-9.00 p.m. Each year since its inception in 1996, the constituent alumni associations of LLL collaborate to raise much-needed funds to support several projects that help to maintain the excellent educational standards of their alma maters, while promoting education in general in Guyana. LLL urges alumni/alumnae of its member associations as well as non-alumni, to answer the call for volunteers in making this year’s event a more memorable success than in recent years.

To learn more about the LLL and how one can volunteer, go to www.lastlaplime.com. Those wishing to volunteer can do so by emailing their names and contact information to:

Gillian Williams, Volunteer Coordinator, at gillian3050@gmail.com or by calling her at 647-216-7069

The names of all volunteers will be entered into a draw for the chance of winning a complimentary return air fare donated by Fly Jamaica Airways.
