May the New Year be filled with adventures and good fortunes

BY SABRINA S – 12 YEARS OLD

2021 has come to an end, time really flew by quickly. If anyone told me that I was going to be in lockdown for two years, I wouldn’t believe them.

It feels like just yesterday was the beginning of 2020, but it’s been two years since that feeling.

I don’t know how your year went but my year was full of chaos.

We started 2021 with good wishes and happy thoughts that this year wouldn’t be the same as last year. I don’t know if that worked because we went on another lockdown and schools were put back onto screens. I never went in-person to school so this didn’t affect me much. I don’t know what I expected going into 2021.

Every new year, we all make resolutions that we think we are going to follow for the whole year, none of us ever do that for the entire year.

I’ve decided to make sure my resolutions this year aren’t impossible to do for the whole year. My first resolution is to always keep my room clean. I had this resolution last year too, but it didn’t work out. I followed a routine for a month before I forgot it or didn’t want to do it. I will achieve this goal by cleaning my room every weekend and vacuuming my carpet every couple of days.

My next resolution is to cut down my screen time and pick up a book every now and then. I’m doing school online this year, so I need to be more careful with my screen time since I already have glasses and I don’t want to spoil my eyes even more. I’ll achieve this goal by setting a certain time of day where I’ll read books and not stare at a screen.

What are your goal for the new year?
