It is an online portal that connects (B3): Black-led, Black-focused, or Black -serving organizations (which includes non-profits; grassroots, community-based and NGOs) to supporters and allies in the community.
The mission of SBC is inclusive and overarching which is to inspire compassion and generosity while increasing the visibility of organizations serving the Black community worldwide. The mission of SBC is intricately connected to promoting and accomplishing the United Nations Sustainable Goals (SDGs).
These SDGs are an urgent call for action by all countries-developed and developing-in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that: improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth-all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

One of the signature programs that SBC has initiated is the Global Black Philanthropic Initiative (GBPI). The objective of this is multi-pronged. GBPI aims to transform traditional giving practices by encouraging donors to support specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The website indicates that “Our goal is not simply only to raise awareness on this critical issue but also to deepen our understanding of the unique challenges faced by the Black community and to advance tangible solutions.”
Through GBPI, SBC highlights each month of the year to a specific cause that is alignment with one of 17 SDGs. For example, in April SDG # 3 -Good Health and Well-being is emphasized by seizing the opportunity to shed light on healthcare misdiagnosis and disparities disproportionately affecting black communities.
There are four practical steps that SBC recommends that can increase awareness about healthcare inequality. These include:
- Educate themselves:
- Learn about historical and current Healthcare inequalities
- Engage in conversations:
- Challenge stereotypes and biases
- Support Health Related Black Organizations
- Contribute to SBC’s mission: through donations, volunteering, or advocacy
Amick Silencieux, Executive Director of Support Black Charities states, “We are thrilled to provide a platform that recognizes and amplifies the impact of Black-led nonprofit organizations in every sector all over the world.”
