BY SABRINA S. – 12 YEARS OLD
It’s summer and everyone is going out and traveling, enjoying the fresh air and doing things they weren’t able to a year ago. My father lives abroad due to his work standards. Every year he comes to visit in the summer for at least a month. Because of the Covid outbreak, he hasn’t had the opportunity to visit in over two years. This year, he gets to reunite with his kids and wife.
Due to the outbreak, we had one year ago that is still getting under control, the traveling standards are a bit different.
First of all, you can’t travel if you have any symptoms of Covid, you need to take a Covid test before going to the airport. When you arrive at your destination, you will have to quarantine to avoid any sickness getting passed to other citizens. These rules are understandable and are easy to follow.
Canada is only letting in people who are vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. My father is fully vaccinated so that won’t be a problem for him.
This hasn’t just affected my family but many of my friends as well. One of my friends went to Pakistan for a wedding back in February, when Ontario wasn’t under the second lockdown. They came back but their grandma stayed for a few more days, Ontario went into another lockdown and all flights were canceled, their grandma and grandpa stayed there for an extra five months and still haven’t entered Canada.
There are multiple rules to enter Canada, but they are all important. They were enlisted to protect our well-being and we should take precautions and follow these rules.
“You get what you give.”
