The difference between fake, and real friends; journals of a thirteen-year-old

BY KAHA G – 13 YEARS OLD

Everyone in the world has had at least one fake friend in his or her life, and if you haven’t, then you’re going to sooner or later. It’s hard to stand up to fake friends, especially if they have been nice to you in the past, and then suddenly changed. Sometimes we just have to think to ourselves: Am I going to let this person run me over with their toxicity forever? Or am I going to block them out of my life for good?

Some examples of what fake friends do are: talk bad about you behind your back, not be there for you when you need them most, celebrate your failures, post mean things on social media about you, make you doubt yourself, and they want to see your life crumble. When you see one of your friends do one or multiple of the following things above, then you should reconsider being their friend immediately. If your friends aren’t going to support you as you support them, you don’t need them at all.

On the other hand, real friends will: be there for you when you need them most, they will accept you for who you are, they encourage you to take risks, they will tell you the truth, and will keep your secrets between you and them. Additionally, these people are kind, easy-going, trustworthy, and gentle, so having them will make you feel positive. The best part is that you can eventually make the true friends in your life your best friends one day. Ok! I know what you’re saying, “You can only have one best friend.” Wrong! According to https://www.quora.com/, a best friend is someone close to you, so yes, anyone can have more than one best friend.

I personally have had my fair share of fake friends, but I just have to move on because I know that there’s someone out there in the world that will accept me for me, and not feed into the negative thoughts others have about me. Hanging out with the right people is essential in life because they will drive you to success, and possibly a happier life.
