The hypocrisy that is the public climate change sector

With regards to climate control public policy and actual application of it, every nation on this planet talks the talk, but does not walk the walk when one looks closely at their performance. Even Europe lets the ash fill the air, air pollution everywhere, while importing hydrocarbons for their energy usage. America’s election of Donald Trump has opened the dam walls that were attempting to purify their air and hold back business practices that polluted their air. The Republicans ignore climate change, predicting that climatic events such as: hurricanes, droughts, atmospheric rivers, mass flooding have and will remain events that happened before. To them climate change is a bit of propaganda given by the progressive left as a tool to manhandle the business sector.

They gather today in of all places Baku, capital of Azerbaijan (the land of fire), a backward tyranny who make great claims of climatic policy making but are one of the worst polluters in the region. COP29 is the gathering of leaders needing to be seen doing something about climate change and other issues. Photo shots, personal meetings behind closed doors, but that is all. Fossil fuel producers are moving ahead with full scale production of their liquid gold before some of their governments place draconian regulations upon their energy sectors.

No matter what the average joe does, he cannot win. Higher taxes upon energy usage, higher insurance costs because of climatic events, entire populations considering moving from their homes because the climate and earth below them is so inhospitable these days. Droughts, mudslides, atmospheric rivers and down pours, hurricane winds, 15-20+ foot waves, mass regional flooding, long term rehabilitation of entire regions. A major sh*t storm and the public authorities seem to not be prepared.

Don’t think our governmental leadership, or their teams of scientists will be able to change the direction we are going. Many want to change the path, but have neither the will power, nor finances needed to do so. As long as the world continues on its merry way towards authoritarianism, conservatism and their love of all things traditional (oh the glorious past) we are certainly doomed.

Remember what Stephen Hawking once said “We are in danger of destroying ourselves by our greed and stupidity. We cannot remain looking inward at ourselves on a small and increasingly polluted planet.” Amen

Azerbaijan is known as the land of fire because there are so many fires and flames leaping from their gas and oil fields. Why spend money there by having a conference about climate change?
