The Poetic Word

When Will It End?

BY GLORIA O’KOYE

Will it ever stop?

Will it ever end?

All these broken promises

Repeating cycles,

This back and forth pattern

Hurts a lot of people’s heads

One minute

It is trusting science

But turn around

Recalling everything back

How can we blame the mistrust from the community?

When these experts keep bumping their heads

Division continues to grow

Families and friends turn on each other.

Everyday the fear is forced

Everyday patience continues to get smaller

More and more

Mental exhaustion

Causing agitation and restless nights

Constant media brainwashing

Stressing the sense of sight

With all the screen time

From day till night

When will it end?

When will it stop?

Feels like it is the tipping point

To eliminate compassion

And free will to choose

What we want.

Blood spills to prices rising

And sneaky bills through the House

That the politicians are passing

Chaotic world

Chaotic country

The freedom to protest

Gets red-flagged as an attack

And labelled as a threat to public safety

Just another propaganda

History repeating.

When will it stop?

When will it end?

How many times of being stripped away

Before the people realize the real issues

Hiding in our society,

Would that time be too late?
