Poem Written by: Gloria O’koye
The world is like unknown parts of the Universe.
Pitch darkness reigns over galaxies that
Were once shook by the light of pushing forward.
Covered news move like filters,
But war crimes can never be brushed off any shoulders.
Witnessing the depths of how far some humans can go.
Impacting the jewels we call children
Suffering,
All the dirt we want to purify
But infighting amongst ourselves
Pushes the movements in hiatus,
The pause indefinitely.
Making souls weak as they wander
Around
Searching for community.
Our city is plagued.
Where bylaws rules by selective hearing.
Now frontlines are exhausted, hitting breaking point.
Love still has us keeping the momentum going.
Cloudy night skies,
Waiting for it to be clear…
Wishing upon a star
Anticipating when the end draws near.
Where pain exist no more
And only love surrounds,
So close but distant
Over unnecessary fears.
Internal wars will come to cease,
When healing finally begins
Without scabs being ripped
Causing the process to restart over again.
Wishing upon a star
Where pride and ego are put aside,
Remembering the reason of entering this
Fight.
Emotions cannot fully rule
Or everything built will demolish
Into ashes,
In residual dust
Of star cross revolution.
