In addition to being a beautiful resort full of water adventures and immaculate beaches, Atlantis Paradise Island is deeply involved in the preservation and conservation of marine animals. The resort has been a sanctuary for marine life for a very long time, and its dedication to environmental preservation is prevalent in the Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild series, which aired on February 1st, 2025. The episode focused on Atlantis’ efforts to protect the endangered smalltooth sawfish, a species that plays a crucial role in the health of the ocean ecosystem.

Atlantis Paradise Island has grown from a top resort into a huge aid in marine conservation. According to Forbes, “Atlantis, Paradise Island… has repeatedly kept ahead of the curve by revamping rooms and interiors, opening new dining destinations and taking a responsible role when it comes to eco-consciousness.”

A big part of this is the Atlantis Blue Project Foundation (ABPF), which is a nonprofit organization focused on conservation. ABPF has been hard at work to protect endangered species in The Bahamas and the surrounding Caribbean, with projects like coral nurseries and rescuing sea turtles.

Additionally, the foundation fosters the preservation and conservation of coral reefs, sea turtles, sharks, manatees, cetaceans, and their Bahamian ecosystems. Atlantis is also home to the world’s largest open-air marine habitat, where visitors have the unique opportunity to learn about and get up close to each animal.

As Atlantis continues with these practices, they continue to show that luxury travel and caring for the environment can go hand in hand. Think about how you can help protect our oceans and the incredible creatures that live within them.
