I’m certain that whoever is reading this knows how overwhelming life can be? It’s like we’re all competing to the top of who can survive better, but the truth is that some of us are hanging on by a dangerously thin thread, and somehow still have the willpower to put a fake smile on our face. This is because we hide a tsunami of emotions behind our hearts, but there’s only a matter of time before something small will unleash that tsunami into the world. Life can stab you in the back sometimes, which is why I’ll be explaining what I have learned about it so that you can have a better understanding.

Life is a very unusual concept because it is both majestic and cruel at the same time. We tend to get caught up in the mind games life plays on us, which is normal at times, but we shouldn’t let that overtake us. Yes, life has its ups and downs, in spite of that we can’t give up because there’s more to life than suffering or hardship. There are beautiful sights to see, new people to meet, adventures to take, opportunities that might flip our world upside down if we reach out for it. Everyone on this earth is unique, and brilliant in their own way, which is why we deserve the good in life, despite us seeing the bad. Sometimes we have to face the darkness, to notice how bright the light shines.

Earlier this week, I wrote a poem that explains my point of view on life, and I named it Firefly. I wanted to share some excerpts from it with you.

“It all starts from birth, the day we take our first breath into this mysterious world. We’ll never know how we’ll end, and we’ll never know when we start, but what is certain is that our hearts never stop, until we do.

When our passion stops beating through our veins, then that is when we truly die. Don’t be alarmed though, we can become flourishing butterflies if we find a new one, but the ones who give up on the first try, disappear into the wind like they were never there. That’s because they were never living, they always gave up before they started, and never found the light in the darkness of this world.

Yes, I know it’s difficult but we have to be persistent to find our light, we can’t let this wretched world defeat us. Day by day others try to escape the detached doors left of our society. There are too many ‘I’m sorry’s,’ or ‘It will never happen again,’ but each time we say those words our world falls apart. We shouldn’t stand around for more tragedies to pull us down to the undergrounds of sorrow, because as we all know there may not be a tomorrow.

If we don’t act now we will never know if we could have changed our futures for the better. Sculpt a new earth for generations to come, and help them soar into the starry night just like fireflies.”
