History has always been a record of what was, but for the Caribbean woman, the most powerful stories are the ones we haven’t lived yet. This International Women’s Month, the Toronto Caribbean Newspaper is breaking the mold. We are moving beyond the Herstory of yesterday and stepping into the speculative renaissance of 2036.
A New Era of Storytelling
We are inviting the women of our community (from the boardroom to the classroom) to join us as the storytellers of the next decade. This is an exercise in strategic imagination. Through micro-essays and AI-assisted visual storytelling, we are illustrating a future where our community leads.
Why Now?
The world changes at the speed of our imagination. When we position women as visionaries, we change the trajectory of our community. We are including youth voices to ensure the bridge to 2036 is sturdy, and we are using ethical AI tools to bring these mental maps to life.
We want to see your illustrated predictions. We want to read your micro-essays on the healing of the self, the evolution of love, and the expansion of our economic power.
The Call to Action
We are looking for the hopeful, the imaginative, and the expansive. If you have ever looked at the world and thought, “It shouldn’t be this way,” then you are exactly who we need. Tell us what it looks like when it is your way.
Ten years from now, the world will look back at this archival series as the moment the blueprint was drawn. Share your 2036 forecast today.
We are looking for Micro-Essays (150-200 words) and Visionary Predictions. Your forecast is essential to our archival record. Please send your micro-essay to simone@carib101.com.
Please have micro-essays submitted by Wednesday, March 18th, 2026.
