Yoga: A Gift to Yourself

BY: JUGNU AGARWAL

Yoga is probably the most precious gift you can give to yourself, which trains you to find the blessings within. It is a journey of a self-discovery helping you to love yourself on a deeper level.

The word “yoga” originates from a Sanskrit word “yuj”, meaning the union of the soul and mind with the spirit. The history of yoga dates back to Tantric civilization which existed in India and all parts of the world more than ten thousand years ago. Yoga has branched out to different streams the main being raja, hatha, karma, bhakti, jnana, and tantra yoga.

People of all ages can practice yoga and it can also be adapted for people with disabilities or special needs. A regular practice of yoga helps you stay fit and healthy. It includes profound techniques of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul. Anyone can practice it easily at home, once trained by a competent teacher without spending significantly. Yoga rewards you with better health and greater mental conditions, leaving no side effects on your body.

Many people take up yoga to free themselves from health conditions like asthma, migraines, back pain, indigestion, diabetes, hypertension, anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Once they experience the healing powers of yoga their faith in it strengthens and there is no looking back. People recognize how gifted they are by realizing an inherent happiness.

Yoga is no less magical than the power of life itself. It unlocks life’s wonder and unleashes hidden energies. It is probably the best gift of living a healthy and fit life and under the sky. Since, yoga has helped me on a personal level in attaining a sense of emotional, physical and mental balance. I request you all to bless yourself with this gift.
